Do you like dresses? As an Indianapolis Wardrobe Stylist, I must admit I love dresses for so many reasons:
- they are easy to style
- they are a one-and-done
- you can add third layers, shoes, jewelry, etc., to create a different vibe
In the summer, temperatures spike, and dresses are at the zenith of popularity!
I love prints, I love solids, and I love textures; such as eyelet, pique, sheer florals, embroidery, lace, linen and cotton.
Indianapolis Wardrobe Stylist’s Favorite Dresses
For me, a dress is not just an act of putting on fabric; it’s an immersive experience that can profoundly impact how we feel. A dress transcends mere clothing; it’s a manifestation of style, femininity, and confidence that has the power to influence our mood.
Slipping into a well-chosen dress is like stepping into a persona—a curated expression of oneself. The right dress can accentuate your features, highlighting your strengths and imbuing you with a sense of empowerment. The flow of the fabric, the cut, and the color all contribute to a visual symphony that elevates your mood.
Dresses have a magical quality of making you feel elegant and poised. Whether it’s a flowing maxi dress that evokes a sense of freedom or a tailored sheath dress that exudes sophistication, each style communicates a different facet of your personality.
Moreover, the act of choosing a dress is a ritual of self-care. It’s a moment to celebrate your body, embrace your unique style, and express your individuality. As a Indianapolis Wardrobe Stylist, I believe a dress can be more than an outfit; it can be a form of self-love, boosting your confidence and allowing you to navigate the world with grace and assurance. So, the next time you slip into a dress, savor the transformative power it holds—making you feel not just adorned, but truly radiant.
When selecting dresses, there a couple of key principles to consider:
- Dress your shape. If you are a pear shape, don’t pick a dress that focuses only on your bottom half. Choose a dress with details to draw the eye up.
- If you are busty, neckline is key. Avoid high necks, square shapes on the top and extremely fitted bodices. V-neck and scoop neck are your better options.
- If you have weight struggles, avoid horizontal stripe and wide vertical stripes. They add width to your shape.
- Hemlines are key. In my style appointment I spend a couple of pages devoted to the best hem for you. Remember you don’t want to put a hem at the widest part of your leg. If you are petite, watch midi and maxi dresses since they overwhelm you.
