Spring Trends – You will love them!

At the fall fashion shows throughout the world, spring trends were explored and illustrated in full color and drama, as usual! Purple, sheerness, and ruffles were the big trends. Here’s some advice from your Indianapolis Personal Stylist on using them this season!

Indianapolis Personal Stylist Advice on Spring 2026 Trends

Indianapolis Personal Stylist Beth Divine says purple and red will be popular in Spring 2026 image shows two people wearing purple clothesThese are key colors from the shows.

  • Purple is the most popular trend for 2026. Also, a pastel version of purple was seen on the runways. Photo by Henry de Guzman
  • Red continues to be strong for spring/summer 2026. I can attest to this just seeing it everywhere in the stores, especially red jeans, chinos, and dress pants. Also included in the “red” trend are colors such as burgundy, bright red, and rust. So there is a red for everyone. Generally, cools look better in burgundy; warms can rock brighter reds; and extreme warms, such as autumns, love rust. Mixing all these shades of “red” is a good way to wear the trend, although it might be too bold for some of us.
  • We will be seeing orange in stores as well, mixed with cinnamon and rust shades of red. It can also be a fun accessory, such as in a summer purse or even shoes if you believe orange is not one of your best colors.
  • Yellow will be popular this spring. During a couple of shopping trips, I have already seen a butter, warm yellow; although there are also cool yellow that look better on cool coloring. Being a spring, I look better in the warm butter shades.
  • Greens always make a presence in the spring, and this year is no exception. If you wonder what to wear with green, consider navy, white, cream, yellow, light blue, or even gray. I tend to avoid green and black.

Prints will be big.

  • Think polka dots, stripes, leopard, floral, and python. A good principle to follow when wearing any print is your scale…that is basically the size of it. Small, petite ladies should not wear giant prints (wrong scale), and larger, grand ladies can look strange in small prints, such as the liberty floral print. Scale also refers to jewelry and other accessories such as purses, etc.
  • Sculpture, such as even artwork on clothing, will be seen this season. Color block, leather, plaid with a twist, as well as fringe, will be around this spring. The fringe will not be the Western look but more fashion forward, such as added to tops, skirts, and accessories.
  • Feathers will be popular. Transparency such as sheer dresses or long tops without pants will be a hallmark of spring. I think we’ve already seen some examples of this in the media. A good way to start wearing this trend is a blouse or dress with sheer sleeves, sheer bodice, etc.
  • Other novelty trims for spring clothing will be pajama styles, lace, and tulle that are more sheer.
  • Ruffles will abound! They are fun, feminine, and will be everywhere. It’s been called the “Ruffle Rebellion.”

What about shoes? We cannot forget them.

Indianapolis Personal Stylist Beth Divine says purses will show up in larger sizes in Spring 2026 image shows woman holding purseOn the runway, we saw:

  • Heat colors such as yellow, orange, red
  • Leather
  • Clogs
  • Retro, such as T-straps and Mary Janes
  • Square toes
  • 3-D details
  • Ornaments on top

Purses will show up in larger sizes: suede, color, and fringe. Big bags and retro styles.
