As an Indiana Wardrobe Stylist, I love discussing spring trends which makes this season one of my favorite times of the year! Today I’ll explain how to incorporate Mocha Mousse, the Pantone Color of the Year, into your style repertoire. The Pantone Color Institute describes the Mocha Mousse color as “a warming, brown hue imbued with richness.”
Spring Color Advice from Your Indiana Wardrobe Stylist
Be Monochromatic
Use colors from Relaxed Elegance, one of color palettes featuring Mocha Mousse. The supporting colors showcase Mocha Mousse in a monochromatic theme. One advantage of wearing shades of the same color is the resulting slimming effect. It’s also an easy put-together look that anyone can do. However, when wearing this ensemble of colors I would still add a pop of color like a red purse or green scarf.
If you cannot wear browns, try incorporating the colors in a purse, shoes, or even a pair of earrings to give a subtle touch to your outfits.
Utilize Floral Colors
I think the Floral Pathways color palette from the Pantone Color Institute is lovely and has something for everyone.
For me as a True Spring who likes to embrace warm bright colors, I would look at using the Tendril green, Cornflower Blue, Viola light purple, and Rose Tan pink in my outfits. I especially love the idea of pink and green with Mocha Mousse since I wear all those colors. I have a jacket in mousse and a green mock turtleneck blouse that I can pair with cream jeans.
If your skin tone is more cool, I would say the Tendril, Cornflower Blue, Coblestone gray, and Viola would look great on you.
For those who wear bright deep colors, I suggest exploring some of these colors as accents with your bright neutrals of black and navy. Wear Cobblestone, Viola, and Tendril as accent colors in a blouse, purse, or shoes.
