Skin Care is Important!

Skin care is something I know something about. Over my lifetime, I have shifted what I do for my skin based on my age, and you should too! Read on to learn how your Personal Image Consultant treats her skin!

Skin Care Tips from Your Personal Image Consultant

I do believe that your skin type is inherited. I was not lucky in my genetics because my skin is not terribly firm. In my younger days, I had oily skin and acne. I am long past those days (thanks to the medication at the time) but my issues have changed as well.

It’s funny; with skin care, sometimes we can do too much. You don’t want to use all “active” products with various treatments in them because they don’t necessarily all work together. They do just the opposite – they counteract each other, meaning they don’t work the way they are supposed to. To me, this is the No. 1 mistake most people make in selecting skin care products.

The other mistake — not wearing sunscreen, every day, year around.

But I do believe in regular facials, dermaplaning, and even BBL treatments for spots and other issues. These tools work!Personal Image Consultant Beth Divine encourages skin care as part of your routine image shows container of lotion

In general, I believe most of us get more dry skin as we age; thus, we need a reset of our skin care routine. I now use the most hydrating night cream I can find which is Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream. It just soaks into my face!

I was recently at an image consulting conference, and our goody bag was fabulous! One of the items included was a cleansing facial oil by Bobbi Brown. I was skeptical since it seemed it would be too greasy. But it was not! My face felt wonderful, very hydrated, and I hadn’t even put on my moisturizer. I am still using it and have added it to my arsenal of skin care tools. I even use it to take off my eye makeup.

I also sometimes use a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil if I feel my face is really dirty. My cleanser is the area where I save money since I am investing more into treatment products. I like over-the-counter cleansers such as Cetaphil, CeraVe, and Aveno. All of these products have a sensitive skin version that I like to use.

As we age, just moisturizing and cleansing our skin is not enough. We need treatments as well. I love products from Skinceuticals and use several of them, including Turnaround Cream (under my basic night moisturizer) and the Vitamin C serum (every day under my moisturizer and sunscreen). Don’t forget your eye cream. Use it every night.

Of course, we all need sunscreen every day of the year. Did you know you can even get sun when you’re just driving in the car? If you are outside on the beach, you need to add it a couple of times a day. My favorite sunscreen with a nice moisturizer is EltaMD. It’s available on Amazon.
