Hello Fashionistas,
Holidays are coming up. Don’t we know it. I have been to some of the area malls shopping with clients, and wow, is it busy. But it’s still fun. Although I have heard the best deals can be on Black Friday, I am convinced the deals come afterwards. Case in point — I was at Macy’s yesterday, and many items were on sale, 40 percent, and then there was an extra 30 percent off. This was on great brands such as Michael Kors. His winter coats are amazing — I have have had a couple, as are Kenneth Cole. Don’t forget to really feel the fabric of a coat you’re buying. It should be soft, supple and not collect lint.
Indianapolis Personal Stylist Tips For Buying Items That Are Not Real
Anyway, this blog is about buying items that are not real: Faux leather coats and purses. I do buy faux at times, especially for trendy items I know I won’t keep for years.
I am really intrigued with backpack purses. I don’t have one yet, although some of my clients have bought some and loved them. This bag is wonderfully made in Italy, in a neutral black/grey/white. I think it would be light to carry for traveling. I am also really picky about straps for purses when I am traveling. I don’t want a strap that is heavy or that will cut into my shoulder. It’s the Giani Bernini Graphic Signature Convertible backpack at Macy’s. It’s $79 on sale, depending on when you shop.
This faux leather jacket is really good looking and light weight. It comes in many colors, but I am always a fan of the black leather jacket look. It doesn’t have to always look edgy, depending on what you wear with it. I like to wear floral tops and pretty dresses. But sometimes I wear a white T and black or grey jeans. Anyway this jacket is called the Scuba jacket and it’s by a.n.a. at JCPenneys. On sale it’s $39.99.
Fur is still really big this year. I am a classic dresser so I am slowly getting my feet wet with this glamorous trend. I really like this fur infinity scarf from Target. It comes in four colors, and I am thinking of gifting some of these beauties. It’s by Merona and called the Faux Fur Infinity Scarf. It’s about $24.99. If you want to indulge in this feminine trend, it won’t break your pocketbook! There are many styles at Target besides this infinity scarf, so find the best option for your gift needs — or yourself.
I do love a real silk blouse, but I also will buy an on-trend polyester blend blouse that is beautiful, flows beautifully and easy to care for. Lately, I have been finding some beautiful blouses at The Limited. I have bought a pretty bell-sleeve blouse there in a really busy gold, grey and burgundy print, and also am eyeing this pretty number. It comes in Teal and the Purple, pictured here. It as the wide sleeves, lace-up front and swingy shape. It’s $59 at The Limited, and is 100 percent polyester, so it’s easy to hand wash. It’s be a pretty top for a work holiday party or just going out around the holidays if you don’t want to wear a dress. Pair it with straight or skinny black pants to balance out the volume of this top.
While this top doesn’t fit into the faux category, it’s just such a flattering shape that we should all consider. It emphasizes your waist and your neck. And, is you are more full in the middle you might want to pick at more trim top with a faux wrap top such as this one by Ann Taylor. It’s an online exclusive, to hurry to buy it. It’s on sale now for $29. Love the red for Christmas.
Happy shopping,
Keep it sassy. Beth Divine, Your Indianapolis Personal Stylist
