How To Look Younger: A Dive into Makeup

We all wear makeup to some degree, so it’s fun to take a dive into it at times, so that’s what I am doing today. What I am sharing has worked for me in my own personal routine, and it continues to evolve as I become more mature. I believe that we all need to reassess our routines, as new developments in cosmetics make them easier and more effective. Here are some makeup trends I have noticed for Indianapolis Women’s Styling that I’ve decided to pursue in my own routine.

Makeup Trends for Indianapolis Women’s Styling

The natural look is certainly popular. Social media darlings love the Goop line. I don’t wear any of that makeup but know that makeup trends as barely there and touts skincare properties in the foundation, etc.

One of the major changes I made in the last year is that I went from a very high coverage makeup that I loved, Estee Lauder’s Doublewear, to a lighter, sunblock drenched tinted moisturizer that I love. My esthetician recommended it for summer. I wear it over a light sunblock moisturizer, and it’s just added protection.

On top of that, I wear YSL’s Touche Eclat pen under my eyes. I love it because it adds light and a little coverage. (We want that glow.) This product is in every makeup artist’s bag! What I like about tinted moisturizer is that it goes on easily, covers enough, and it adds a little glow!

Don’t hesitate to try the newer foundations that have skin care in them. That way, you get some coverage while also enjoying the added benefits of moisturizers and other products that nourish your skin. That is such an extra benefit that current products now feature. It is a great thing!

I also like to use cream blush because it adds to the glow you can get. If I want it to last all day, I will add a light layer of powder blush on top. This will last!

For years, I avoided any type of transparent powder around the T-zone because I heard it was aging. But I changed my routine because I saw an ad for Laura Mercier’s talc-free face powder. Just a little bit of this powder will become a permanent routine. It’s important not to overdo it. Just a little bit will enhance your look!

Now on to eyes! One of the biggest obstacles to making your eyes look great starts with primer. It keeps every product in place and makes it long-lasting. There are several out there that work. I use Urban Decay’s eye primer, and I love it. It has a couple of colors so you can match your skin tone, and it keeps your eye shadow and eye liner on all day!! I recently used it on a European vacation, and my friend noticed. She asked how to keep your eye shadow and liner on all day! I shared my secret with her.

Another switch I have made in my makeup routine is to start using a less bold mascara. Lancome has a couple of options in brown mascara that are so natural-looking. I will use black mascara when I want a little more “punch.”
