Hello Indianapolis Fashionistas,
This blog is late. So it’s going to be a mishmash of items. I am writing this blog after finishing a mini-marathon. It’s running season, and I have been training for this race when I finished my last full race last May in California. Every Saturday morning, I’ve been getting up at about 6:15 am, enjoying my coffee and energy bar and then hitting the trails for a run. This routine is nearly without exception.
I am not a fast runner, but I am more of a steady runner who’s trying to get back to some good personal best times. Anyway, it’s a process, that it for sure.
It’s a bit of family thing — my husband of nearly 17 years runs the marathons. I run the mini’s. it’s something we both like to do, and when we run a race out of town we see some neat cities. Anyway, this race was in Columbus, Ohio — a city I always thought rivaled Indianapolis. But…Columbus is so cool! We saw some new neighborhoods we didn’t even know existed downtown. So much activity–so many restaurants and shops: fun, fun, fun! We always say — we should just come here for fun. Alas, we seldom do.
Anyway, what does this have to do with fashion, styling, etc. I don’t know — but I do know that whatever your career is–and I consider personal styling to be my career–you need passions and interests outside of that. Running is a good outlet for me, and it’s kept me away from Osteopenia–something I discovered in my late 20s. Basically, I was heading for full-blown osteoporosis. The weight-bearing exercise I’ve done over the years has saved me from this diagnosis!
Anyway, since this is a style blog, I would be amiss not to mention something in that arena.
Okay, some discoveries I made this week: one is sleepwear. I am ways in search of the perfect PJs or sleep shirts. I already have plenty of lingerie, so that’s not what I am talking about. Drum roll, please: I have found the perfect sleep shirt, and it’s at Soma. It is buttery soft, in a beautiful bright Magenta, and a good fit and long enough not to ride up. View here.
I also ordered the longer sleep shirt, pictured here.
Another great time Soma has is the underpants. Their underwear is nicely made, holds up, avoids creating a panty line, and feels so comfortable. It’s never too high, too, so you feel as though you are wearing briefs.
If you are a match-matchy girl, buy the panties to match Soma’s bras, which are even better.
I have read that women need to measured every year for the correct size bra, and I agree. So…get measured.
Finally, if you really like luxury cotton PJs, look no further. I have similar cotton PJs to these mentioned here. Yes, they are a little pricy, but they feel so crips and clean on. I love the pale blue shorts and top. See if you like it, too.
Keep it sassy, Indy.
