Fall Trends From Your Indianapolis Personal Stylist
Hello, Indianapolis Fashionistas! I was out on one of my fun shopping trips where I just pick a shopping center, and look around at all that’s new. Fall clothes are really being stocked now, and there are some interesting and new trends I am seeing, along with some from last season.
If you want to add something new and trendy to your wardrobe this fall, think plum and lavender. I cannot tell you how many shades of purple I saw while I was shopping — from dusty lilac, to pinky-lilac, purple and even a deep plum. They are all beautiful, and they look amazing paired with fall’s moody solids such as camel, brown, burgundy and navy.
The choker neck top is still around, as is cold shoulder. However, I do believe Boho and Cold Shoulder styles have peaked, so buy with caution. I like an off the shoulder top that I can wear up or down. It will have a longer life in your closet when styles change.
I do like the choker neck top and plan to add one to my wardrobe to wear with a new white jacket.
I am fortunate to be able to wear all shades of purple–from a delicate light lilac to the deep plum. I am a blue-eyed blonde with very tan, olive skin. That’s why a pale lavender is one of my best colors. An easy way to decide what shade of purple to buy is to look in the mirror and decide — is my coloring very fair, delicate and light. You can rock a pale lavender and can combine some deep shades of purple as well. If your coloring is darker, more strong, go for the deep purple. Or if you have very fair skin, very dark hair and blue or green eyes, try the very brightest shade of purple–this principle is true for redheads as well.
As always, I advise my Indianapolis clients to not buy every trend that’s out there. If you’re not sure about a color, add it in a scarf, necklace or even a purse. That’s a cool way to keep abreast of what’s new without breaking your budget!

Another trend I am seeing that’s been around awhile is the silk, small square scarf. I am seeing these scarves much more than the big, filmy infinity scarves we all have too many of. My advice is to stop buy all wrap scarves and buy one of these new scarves in some colorful patterns. They can really dress up a T-shirt and a blazer, alone or separately.
The wider leg pants are still among us. They can be a mystery to many of us one pair of really wide leg pants will look great and another make us look huge. I advise you to try on a more unfamiliar silhouette on in the store before buying them. Some of the wider leg crop pants are featured here. I love a pair of pants in olive since it’s a neutral and more fresh looking than the typical black or navy.
Bucket purse are in again. I saw some really pretty ones in camel and purple at Von Maur. I really like the shape, and it’s fun to have a new looking purse.
Falls Shoes for Indianapolis
Of course shoes are always at the top of my list. I have seen some beautiful olive suede booties, some grey suede block heels as well as some beautiful velour mules. I am not a fan of the mule since my feet slip out of them but like the cigarette slipper version in the velvet and print.
