Fall Trends for Men

For Fall 2024, men’s fashion trends reflect a blend of timeless classics, practical innovation, and a hint of nostalgic revival. As an Image Consultant, Here’s a detailed overview of what I expect this season:

  1. Tailored Comfort: The line between formal wear and casual wear continues to blur, with an emphasis on comfort without sacrificing style. Expect to see more relaxed silhouettes in suits and blazers, made from stretch fabrics that offer both comfort and a clean, tailored look.
  2. Layering Essentials: Layering is a key trend, with practical yet stylish pieces such as lightweight puffer jackets, vest layers, and chunky knit sweaters. These items allow for easy adjustment to changing temperatures, making them perfect for fall’s fluctuating weather.

Retro Influences: There’s a strong resurgence of styles from the ’70s and ’90s. Look for corduroy pants, shearling jackets, and flannel shirts that nod to the ’70s, alongside ’90s-inspired oversized fits, graphic tees, and denim varieties. Part of this trend is the wider leg pants, a trend that started with women, but it has now moved to men’s wear.

  4. Technical Outerwear: As outdoor activities continue to be popular, technical outerwear that doesn’t compromise on style is on the rise. Waterproof and windproof features, hidden pockets, and sustainable materials are all elements to look out for in fall jackets and coats.
  5. Rich and Earthy Colors: Color palettes for men this fall include deep greens, warm terracottas, mustard yellows, and classic navy. As an Image Consultant, I believe that these shades are easy to mix and match and lend themselves well to the season’s emphasis on natural and subdued tones.
  6. Plaid Patterns: Plaid remains a staple pattern for fall. It’s seen in everything from casual shirts to formal suits, providing a versatile and timeless appeal. The pattern ranges from subtle, muted plaids to more bold and colorful interpretations.
  7. Textured Fabrics: Textures play a big role in men’s fashion this fall. Expect to see more tweed, herringbone, and cable knit, adding depth and interest to outfits. These textures not only add a tactile element but also enhance the warmth and comfort of garments.
  8. Sustainable and Ethical Fashion: Sustainability is increasingly important. More brands are focusing on ethical practices and sustainable materials, including recycled fabrics and organic cotton. This trend is not only good for the environment but also appeals to the eco-conscious consumer.
  9. Statement Boots: Footwear trends include rugged, durable boots that can handle the elements while still looking stylish. Leather Chelsea boots, combat boots, and updated versions of work boots with stylish twists such as contrast stitching and unique materials are in vogue.
  10. Accessorizing with Purpose: Accessories are functional as well as stylish. Scarves, hats, and gloves are made with high-quality materials and in styles that complement the overall aesthetic of practicality and elegance. These trends for Fall 2024 show a commitment to comfort, functionality, and a dash of nostalgia, ensuring that men’s fashion is both forward-looking and deeply rooted in time-tested styles.
  11. Denim on Denim: This trend is just as hot for men as it is for women. The key to rocking it is to not match the denims but use different washes and even colors to add interest.

Men and women will continue to see a more relaxed ensemble for the workplace. As an Image Consultant, when I work with men who are C-Suite, business owners or just want to elevate their look I will always suggest a blazer of some sort or even a more casual suit with an unstructured, unlined jacket.
