Have you wondered how you can elevate your look? It’s not as hard as you think.
Your Indiana Personal Stylist share 3 tips on how you can achieve a more polished look, and we can’t wait for you to try it!
#1 Look Elegant with Blazer – If you don’t want to look too formal, you can really combine a blazer with jeans. Even though you have a casual style, you still look polished and elegant. A great way to elevate your style. This look is a polished work ensemble when you don’t want to wear a matching suit. In the summer I wear summer-fabric blazers in seersucker, linen, cotton, pique and madras and wear with cotton, linen and chambray denim that is much lighter. Add some color with a fun shell in bright neons or pastels.
Also don’t be afraid to buy a matching suit, especially a pants suit. You’d be surprised how much you will wear a summer suit, epecially if it is a more casual version. I bought a navy linen suit with white trim with matching pants. I wear them together for a little more dressed look. But I can also break up the suit to wear with other pieces. For instance, the navy jacket looks amazing with a light blue shell, white jeans and sneakers. The pants look great with a silk blouse in a fun print or even a stripe with a pump. So you can create many outfits.
#2 Choose Pointed Flats or Heels – Pointed flats or heels give a slim effect on the legs. You can choose shoes in black or nude colours because they will make your appearance look more timeless. And, play with some different summer shoes in color, stripe or even print. I am loving the linen spectator shoes right now because they can go with so much — black/white; nude/white and navy/tan.
Shoes are very important because they really carry out the theme of what you are wearing. Keep your shoes free of dirt, scuffs or wear. You can also invest in some statement shoes that really make your basics “sing.” For instance, this summer I was looking for some red shoes. I have plenty of dark bungundy shoes, but not red ones (basicallly because the flats I have had I wear out!) For summer, I bought a pair of red block heel sandals. I wear them with many of my white, navy, blue, red and even pink ensembles They add that bright touch that makes whatever I wear more interesting.
#3 Classy Style with Clutch – Elevate your style by adding a clutch bag. You can choose a simple bag shape and design. Or use a clutch with a classic/timeless look and feel. This will instantly elevate your appearance.
And, in the summer, don’t be afraid to invest in summer bags such as wicker, white leather, even floral purses. They add that little touch that makes basics much more interesting. I use them all summer, beginning in May and sometimes through September.
