As your Personal Image Consultant, I’d like to offer you some advice: there is a perfect red for everyone, but it might surprise you what that red is.
As a warm-toned blonde, I look better in brighter, warmer colors popular in spring such as grass green, yellows, coral, a warm blue, brown, camel, etc. I have had my color analyzed three times, and I think the last one was the most accurate. I finally learned that I cannot wear smokey colors such as gray (it is my worst color, hands down. It makes me look, tired old, and very “shadowed.”
Knowing my best colors does not always translate into a closet that works for me/you. If you are in a season such as spring that seems to be nonexistent in the winter season, finding your best colors is difficult. I find some off-season colors that work, such as coral and warm pinks. Of course, I embrace the camel, light rust, and browns popular in the fall.
Personal Image Consultant Suggestion on Holiday Clothes
Anyway, winter is nearly here; Christmas is almost here, and that means that reds and greens abound in the holiday clothing we see in the stores. While of course your Indiana Image Consultant highly recommends a color analysis to know for sure what your best colors are. But if you haven’t yet done that; here are some general color principles to guide you.
If you have deep, strong coloring such as very pale skin, black hair, and right eyes. You more than likely can wear a bright red with a blue base for your holiday tops and dresses. Black looks good on you.
As a Personal Image Consultant, I have some clients who are so light and fair and may not even be blonde, and I direct to pale, light colors or neutrals that are not that strong. For these folks, I suggest combining some white with their holiday colors and looking at a muted red, or a lighter burgundy for the holidays.
If someone is clearly warm, and that is the person who looks like a catalog for fall — warm, reddish hair, warmer skin; warm eyes in green, brown, or hazel; these people wear the more warm reds and even rusts for the holidays. This person really does not look good in strongly bright and cool colors such as magenta, bright purple, bright pink bright reds. You can really shine in a warmer burgundy and warmer greens.
Don’t forget when you dress for a holiday party or gathering to accessorize with the perfect earrings, necklace, shoes, and purse. Embrace sparkle! It’s fun; it’s festive, and you can wear it and mix it up year after year. Case in point: Don’t be the person who wears a beautiful party outfit, but bring along your “large” work bag and everyday shoes. The shoes you wear for a party outfit should be made of shiny fabric, have accents or sparkle in metallics, etc. A general principle for wearing metallics is that if you are more cool in your coloring wear silver; warm wear bronze and gold. In between? Try mixing metallics such as gold and silver.
My biggest suggestion as a Personal Image Consultant is not to take all of the holiday outfits too seriously. If you need some help putting together the perfect holiday look, reach out for a shopping appointment. I am including special pricing for color analysis for anyone who books a holiday-style appointment with me.
Keep it sassy, Indy.
