When you feel good about how you look, it shows. Confidence looks good on you. It’s really just a first step, albeit an important one, to living your best life. I have worked in styling long enough now that I know many people can benefit from my personal stylist and Color Analysis Indianapolis services, as they are practical and useful throughout one’s life!
The Importance of Color Analysis Indianapolis Services
I have often said that I wish I had had a stylist during my 25-year career and beyond. I was in a high-profile position working with media and executives, so I was expected to look good, but my budget was not substantial to say the least!
A color analysis would have been one of the most beneficial services for me and would have prevented me from buying colors that didn’t flatter me. When you don’t know your best colors, you will not buy clothes that look great on you colorwise! I have talked about this before, but when our office changed from a casual dress code to a more business formal, I needed a practical purchase, right? It should have been. My grey does not flatter my warm coloring at all. It makes me look very sallow. So part of my effort, buying good quality basics, was on target. But the other part, color, made it a failed purchase.
I later learned that navy was one of my best neutrals, much better than black, and I did wear that color to two of my most important job interviews. To one of those interviews at a liberal arts college, I actually wore a very artsy dress. It was a navy suit dress with a carwash flap hem. I loved that dress. It showed my personality and that I knew what colors to wear to make my personal coloring shine.
How to Navigate Clothing Fit
Beyond color are two other areas for which clients always need help: clothing fit and hygiene.
In the very first meeting with people, I talk about their build (men) and shape (women), along with the best shapes of clothing for them. This is very key since fit is a close partner to clothing quality. Even the most beautiful piece of clothing is not flattering if it doesn’t fit. I try to dispel the notion that we should be able to walk into a store or order online a size/garment that will never need to be altered. This is just not so. Retailers make clothing with a certain height and size in mind, and many times that is not our size! So don’t be afraid to alter clothing, such as hems and darts. However, I don’t advocate moving shoulder pads. There are more options available to those of us who don’t fit the mold like extended sizing, plus sizing, big and tall, or petite. You just have to ask and look for it. Many stores won’t carry diverse sizing in the store, but they will offer it online. The store associate and I can be helpful in finding that sizing.
