Men’s Fall Style Trends

Here are the key men’s fashion trends for Fall/Winter 2025 — what’s hot, what’s coming back, and what to watch out for in Indianapolis Men’s Styling. If you like, I can also pull up visuals or show how to adapt them to your wardrobe.

Color & Palette

  • Earthy warm tones are dominant: mocha brown (sometimes called “Mocha Mousse” by Pantone), chocolate, olive, rust, caramel, and deep forest.
  • Contrasting accents: deep reds (“siren red,” maraschino); pastels like dusty or powder pink; and even “slime green” as a bold flash.
  • Blues continue to be versatile from ice blue to cobalt to navy shades.

Fabrics, Textures & Materials

  • Rich, tactile fabrics: leather (including color-treated leather); velvet; suede; shearling; heavy knits are popular. These add both warmth and visual interest.
  • You will see textures such as quilting, padded and multi-functional technical fabrics in outerwear for performance and style.

Silhouettes & Style Movements

  • Oversized outerwear: big puffers, max-length coats, voluminous silhouettes are strong this season. Proceed with caution since too much bulk and fabric can add weight.
  • Utility /workwear influences are still hot: multi-pocket jackets, field jackets, cargo trousers, functional elements everywhere. Muted tones are often used, and one of my favorites is olive green. It is versatile, and olive pairs with brown, cream, taupe burgundy, bluejeans, etc.
  • Tailoring with a twist is at the core of men’s wear: Wide-lapel, ‘70s references, relaxed suits (not overly structured), double-breasted coats.

We will see softening masculinity with more fluid forms, drapery, and mixing sharp with soft (e.g. pairing structure with more romantic/detail-driven elements).

Key Pieces & Styling Details

  • Faux fur coats and shearlings, both for warmth and statement.
  • Leather as more than jackets: leather pants, full leather suits/tops, sometimes unexpected colors like burgundy or midnight green.
  • Elevated knitwear: chunky cable knits, ribbed half-zips, asymmetrical knits, layering knits over or under outer pieces.
  • Trench coats/traditional outerwear reworked: longer cuts, layered over heavy pieces, in new fabrics or textures.

Patterns & Prints

We are going to see a revival of retro prints: checks, plaids, 1970s-style wide stripes, maybe some geometric motifs. These type prints have been dominant in men’s clothing throughout the years, and it’s comfortable for to wear!

Tips for Fall/Winter 2025

Work with Beth Divine for Indianapolis Men's Styling advice image shows man standing on streetMix textures to create tonal layering. Combine suede, leather, wool, and silk within a similar color family to create depth. If you have never had one, this may be the year to buy a suede jacket in brown or black.

The underlying mood for fall and winter outwear 2025 is balancing function and fashion. Outerwear must handle real cold, but look stylish.

Also, as always, color risk-taking is encouraged. Even if your core looks are neutral, pops of red, pink, or green can modernize.

If you are not sure exactly what to add to your wardrobe, I recommend these pieces:

  • Something in red or burgundy such as pants or a sweater
  • A utility piece either in a jacket or pants in olive
  • Structured sport coat in houndstooth or other traditional fabric that you can wear casually or dress up if needed. (Remember to keep the size of the jacket in proportion to your height; smaller or larger.)
