Knitwear Trends
Harper’s Bazaar recommends implementing these eight sweater trends in your wardrobe. Notice that they aren’t the longer, shapeless cardigans we slip on in place of a jacket.
- Short-sleeve knits: Lightweight cardigans or tees perfect for early fall layering
- Zip-up sweaters: Casual and versatile for errands or active days
- Luxe cashmere: Timeless staples offering both refined fit and cozy comfort
- Boho cardigans: Decorative, textured layers that elevate simple outfits
- Nautical-inspired knits: Think sailor collars and nautical stripes
- Argyle patterns: Updated grandpa-core with a modern twist
- Draped knits: Scarf-like details for sophisticated, multi-functional wear
- Cut-away cardigans: Vest-like styles with split hems for a fresh, workplace-appropriate update
Personal Knitwear Notes
Last spring, I went on a trip that featured three different climates. I spent early spring in coastal Japan, late spring in China, and mid-summer in Manila! It was a nightmare to pack. I ended up bringing a cropped, quilted navy vest and a navy and white print twin set from Brooks Brothers. I wore the twin set frequently since I could tie the cardigan over the short-sleeve sweater. It was made from 100 percent cotton and a really heavy, soft fabric.
I’ve also purchased a deep pink twin set that I plan to wear this fall with a satin slip skirt. (Yes, these are still very in style). This twin has a sleeveless layer, and I plan to wear that as a vest with some pinstripe pants and a blue or pink button-down shirt.
Here is a really cute sweater set I noticed M.M. LaFleur had on its website. I love the dusty reddish brown because it’s not too dark or bright, and many women could wear this color.
